Baker from Stirling

Hi, I’m Norrie. Youth Services worker for Arts, Music & Culture. Being involved in the urban bakery has been great. To be part of the group developing Stirling says has been fantastic. It will give all the people of Stirling a much needed voice for their opinions and a forum that can initiate change within this great wee city.

Baker from Vilnius

Hi, I’m Jekaterina, an urban artist and researcher in urban studies from Vilnius. I was happy to bring the concept of “Street blog” to the bakery session and to develop “Stirling says” project together with the fabulous team of bakers and Stirling people. I hope, people of Stirling will enjoy this new communication tool, share their ideas and promote their beautiful city online!

Baker from Slovenia

Hi, I’m Teja. I’m coming from Slovenia and have attended this bakery for the first time. Stirling Says is a unique place for gathering local thoughts and suggestions. I really hope that we continue to inspire local communities with this project!

What to change

  • More things to do or easier to find things to do
  • The separation in such a small centre
  • More pedestrian friendly city centre environment
  • Council attitude
  • Getting more young people involved in their local community so they want to live and work here rather than scattering after completing school
  • Better places to eat and drink. More attractions, entertainment activities. Better use of history.
  • The inland Revenue building
  • More ambition, more communication, leadership
  • Our own perception ourselves as a city! Chest puffed out.
  • Focus on food and local produce
  • A negative attitude by some to change
  • Better information at arrival points
  • Upgrade the walks around the city-get them used by local-if locals don’t use them , why would tourists? Rethink parking policy in centre-does it currently encourage visitors to stay? Make local museums less dry and less boring
  • More living above the shop. Connections: visual, physical , personal.
  • Genuine links to be created between council a communities so that-all the hard work of community development workers with their communities is respected and outcomes achieved.
  • Why should I stay overnight? Are there great restaurants, hotels, etc? Can there be?
